Japan Missions Updates - 6/10/26
Good evening friends!
Today we landed in Okinawa after finishing our time in Fukuoka. Both Hiroshima and Fukuoka are in South West Japan. Okinawa is even further at about a 2 hour flight south to the East China Sea.
Our time in Fukuoka consisted of a variety of things. These included:
- Meeting the Pioneers Team leaders and members for Fukuoka
- Attending a team fellowship gathering
- Attending a formal Team Meeting on Cultural Intelligence
- Dinner with the Pioneers Fukuoka Area Leaders
- An interview with the Fukuoka Team leaders
- Attendance at Fukuoka Grace Church this past Sunday
The church service was structured with children’s ministry first, worship, the main service and then small groups after. It was completely in Japanese but another of our Pioneers Team Leaders translated for us.
At a fellowship gathering a Japanese sister shared her testimony. The Lord had initially grabbed her attention and touched her with John 3:16. It is stated that in Japan over 8 million gods are worshipped. So many gods but no mention of love. After going to Turkey last year we found out that the Islamic holy book, The Quran, also doesn’t contain the word love. The Lords love for the world in John 3:16 greatly impacted her. The word for sin in Japan is “Tsumi” (soo-me). It’s viewed different than in America. Our Japanese sister didn’t consider herself a sinner since she didn’t see herself as a criminal. Self reliance is of great value in Japan. The Lord convicted her one day after drawing her attention to the “i” in the middle of the word sin. At this moment she saw that she too was a sinner. This is when she turned her life over to The Lord.
Logan has continued to share the gospel with taxi drivers using Google Translate. Praise the Lord for this tool! One evening our family went into a local store after being dropped off. A few minutes after coming into the store, the same taxi driver approached us and had a bag containing ice cream for the kids. Praise the Lord! It could have been the gospel that grabbed him, the kids or something else. We are blessed that the Lord allowed us to be a part of this circumstance.
We are excited to be in Okinawa finally as this is where we believe we are called long-term. Japan is the 2nd most unreached place in the world. They are the only place that is unreached “not because of a lack of access.” They have access but most have not heard the name of Jesus still. Please pray in this direction consistently and for satans grip on Japan to be released.
We can’t thank all of our family, friends and supporters enough for providing the means for this Survey Trip. You are all so dearly appreciated. We hope these posts have been a blessing and encouragement to everyone and we will post again next week.
In service to the King,
Logan, Jennifer, Lucas and Lucy Goolsby
“Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.”
