Dave Herrell

Deacon

Dave and his wife, Shanen, have been members of the Grove since 2008, when they relocated to Madison from East Tennessee. He is a longtime member of the Worship Team and loves worshipping with our church. Other ministries include serving the homeless and working with other Baptists in disaster relief efforts. He enjoys time with his grandkids and small engine repair but, more than anything, wants to honor the Lord.

Jerry Wheeler

Deacon

Jerry has been a member of The Grove since 2010 and has served as a Deacon for much of that time. He also serves on The Grove's Vision Team, which looks at our current and future facilities to meet the ministry needs of the Church. Jerry is committed to faithful service and has served as a Deacon, a member of multiple committees, and a Sunday School teacher at three different churches in his life. Jerry is aided in ministry by his wife, Paula, who leads a life group at The Grove as well. They have three adult boys, two of whom attend The Grove, with the third currently serving in the military. Outside of church, Jerry retired from full-time work in 2020 after 38+ years with Pratt & Whitney. He is currently a part time consultant and volunteer in the aerospace industry.

Steve and his wife, Erin, both grew up in the Atlanta area. They moved to Madison in 2004, and began attending The Grove in 2006.  They have 3 young adult children: Matthew, Ryan, and Katie. Steve enjoys playing baseball, fishing, and traveling with family. He leads a men's life group at The Grove and is grateful for the opportunity to serve the members of the church.

Andrew Gwin

Andrew is originally from West Alabama and moved to the Huntsville area for work. He joined The Grove in 2018 originally serving with the Worship and Production Teams, and later turning his focus to the Media Team. He has served as a deacon since 2024. He met his wife, Danica, at The Grove and they have two children, Barrett and Sadie. Andrew's heart is for serving others, aspiring to be "all things to all people" (1 Cor. 9:22). He enjoys spending quality time with his family, graphic design, travel, staying active, and cheering on Alabama football.

James Brenton

Deacon

James grew up in College Station, Texas, where he came to faith in Christ at age 14 and became actively involved in serving and leading in his church’s music and youth ministries. After graduating from Texas A&M in 2009, he moved to Huntsville, Alabama to pursue a master’s degree at UAH, where he met his future wife, Elise. The two married in 2013 and are now raising three children—twins Benji and Phoebe, and their younger brother John. While serving at Lakewood Baptist Church, James was ordained as a deacon and served in several leadership roles, including interim worship leader. After helping launch The Becoming Church in 2021, James and his family joined The Grove in 2023, where he now serves on the Praise and Production teams and participates in small groups.
